The installation and operation of a manual winch (chain hoist) should follow the following steps and precautions to ensure safe and efficient operation:
1、 Preparation before installation
Site evaluation and foundation treatment
Stable foundation: Choose a location with high terrain and solid soil, away from hazardous work areas. The base should be flat and firm, avoiding water accumulation. If necessary, a concrete foundation should be poured and fixed with bolts.
Anchor setting: Install a reliable anchor, lock it firmly with a steel wire rope and the winch base, and pile ahead to prevent movement and overturning. Ground anchors need to undergo tensile testing to confirm their bearing capacity and undergo regular checks for deformation.
Drainage and protection: The installation location should have smooth drainage around it, and a rain shelter should be erected. The top should meet the requirements of the shelter to prevent rainwater erosion and the risk of heavy objects falling.
Equipment inspection and accessory preparation
Component integrity: Check whether key components such as drums, gears, brackets, brakes, and limiters are intact, and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
Wire rope selection: Choose wire ropes that comply with the original factory manual, ensuring that the diameter, twist direction, and drum match. The end of the steel wire rope is firmly fixed, and the distance from the edge of the drum to the outermost steel wire rope is not less than 1.5 times the diameter of the steel wire rope.
Protective device: Install a protective cover for the belt or open gear transmission part, and disable the opening pull plate for the guide pulley to prevent the steel wire rope from coming out.
2、 Installation steps
Positioning and fixation
Installation position: Ensure that the operator can clearly observe the commander and the lifted object. The horizontal distance from the hoist to the installation position of the component should be greater than the height of the component, and the angle of the operating line of sight should be less than 45 °.
Guiding pulley setting: Install a guiding pulley in front of the winch, and its distance from the drum axis must meet the following requirements:
Slotted drum: ≥ 15 times the width of the drum (inclination angle ≤ 2 °);
Slotless drum: ≥ 20 times the width of the drum.
Wire rope winding direction: The direction in which the wire rope is wound into the drum should be perpendicular to the axis, with a perpendicularity deviation of ≤ 6 °, to avoid diagonal winding or staggered compression.
Installation of Electrical and Braking Systems
Power wiring: Connect the power supply strictly according to the electrical wiring diagram, ensuring reliable grounding or neutral connection, with a grounding resistance of ≤ 10 Ω. It is prohibited to mix grounding and neutral connections in the same power supply network.
Brake device debugging: Check the sensitivity of the brake to ensure that there are no obstacles within the range of travel of the brake operating lever. When the wear of the brake band exceeds the limit, it needs to be replaced.
No load test: Conduct 5 no-load forward and reverse tests before formal operation to check the smoothness of operation, flexibility of transmission and braking mechanisms, and lubrication conditions.
Safety protection measures
Construction of operation shed: Set up an operation shed to ensure that the operators have a wide field of view and avoid buildings, scaffolding, etc. obstructing the line of sight.
Road crossing protection: Install protective devices when the steel wire rope passes through the road to prevent crushing and damage.
Safety circle setting: When all the steel wire ropes on the drum are released, at least 3 safety circles should be retained except for the pressure plate fixing circle.
3、 Post installation inspection and trial operation
comprehensive inspection
Confirm that all components are firmly connected without looseness, the electrical circuit insulation is good, and the braking device is reliable.
Check if the steel wire ropes are arranged neatly, without overlapping or diagonal winding.
Load testing
Conduct load lifting and sliding tests according to design requirements, observe equipment operation status, and record abnormal situations.
During the testing process, personnel are prohibited from crossing the steel wire rope, and operators are not allowed to leave their posts after lifting objects.
Adjustment and repair
Adjust the brake, guide pulley and other components based on the trial operation results to ensure smooth, safe and reliable operation of the equipment.
Promptly repair any problems discovered, replace non-conforming components, and conduct retesting to verify performance.
4、 Safety operation standards
Operator requirements
Operators need to undergo professional training, hold certificates, and be familiar with equipment performance and operating procedures.
Concentrate during homework, avoid working under the influence of alcohol or fatigue, maintain clear vision, and promptly remove obstacles.
Precautions during operation
Overloading is strictly prohibited: Do not exceed the rated load of the winch to avoid equipment damage or accidents.
Standardized operation: Check the rope connection and brake status before starting; The downward speed should not be too fast to prevent overspeed and descent.
Prohibited behavior:
During rotation, use your hands to pull and step on the steel wire rope;
Crossing the steel wire rope that is currently in operation;
Unauthorized modification or closure of safety protection devices.
emergency response
When abnormal noise, brake failure, abnormal temperature, etc. are detected, immediately stop the machine for inspection, and only after troubleshooting can it be used.
Cut off the power during power outage or rest, lower the object to the ground, and lock the switch box.
