The installation of a lever chain hoist requires a systematic operation process, combined with safety regulations and equipment characteristics. The following are step-by-step guidelines and key precautions:
1、 Preparation before installation
Site selection evaluation
Choose sturdy and stable support structures (such as I-beams, brackets, or specialized lifting points) to ensure their load-bearing capacity is ≥ 4 times the rated load of the crane (safety factor is usually 4:1).
Avoid obstacles, mobile devices (such as tracks), and hazardous areas (such as acidic or alkaline environments, high temperature zones) to avoid the risk of load swing or collision.
Equipment inspection
Verify the crane model, capacity (e.g. 0.75 tons/1.5 tons/3 tons), and completeness of accessories (chains, hooks, operating handles, etc.).
Check that the chain is not twisted, corroded, or worn, the brake system is sensitive, and all moving parts are well lubricated.
2、 Installation steps
Fixed top hook
Securely connect the top hook (or accessories such as lifting rings, beam clamps, handcarts, etc.) to the supporting structure, and fasten it with high-strength bolts or specialized fixtures to ensure no lateral shaking.
If using an adjustable bracket, it is necessary to confirm that its locking device is reliable and prevents sliding.
Assembly and chain installation
Assemble the crane frame, gearbox, and operating handle according to the instructions.
Correctly threading the chain: The chain should smoothly pass through the pulley/sprocket path, and the bottom hook should naturally sag without crossing or knotting.
Adjust chain tension: Test the free movement of the chain by operating the handle to ensure that the bottom hook can be lowered to the lowest working position (without touching the bottom) and there is no jamming phenomenon.
Connect load and security settings
The load should be mounted on the "bowl shaped" load-bearing part of the bottom hook to avoid stress on the hook tip or lock buckle; Ensure that the hook lock is tightly closed.
When the operating handle is placed in the "neutral" position, the chain should be able to manually adjust its position freely (unloaded state); The direction of operation (up/down) should be consistent with the direction of rotation of the handle.
3、 Security inspection and testing
no-load test
Manually operate the handle to verify the smooth lifting of the chain and the automatic locking of the brake when the load is released.
Check all connection points, hooks, and chains for any abnormal noise or looseness.
load testing
Before the first use, conduct a static load test at 125% of the rated load (such as testing 3.75 tons with a 3-ton crane) for 10-15 minutes to confirm that there is no permanent deformation or functional failure.
In daily use, overloading, forced operation (such as using an extension rod to pry the handle), or pulling the chain laterally are prohibited.
Operating Specifications
Keep your body away from the area under the load and the path of chain movement during operation to avoid uncontrolled shaking of the load.
Do not stay, weld or use as a grounding body under load; Protective covers should be installed and regularly lubricated and maintained in rainy, snowy, or corrosive environments.
4、 Maintenance and Storage
Regular inspection: monthly check for chain wear, brake performance, and structural tightness; Stop using and repair immediately if cracks, deformations, or rust are found.
Storage requirements: Store in a dry and clean environment to avoid chain compression; Before being idle for a long time, it needs to be cleaned, lubricated, and suspended in a no-load state.
