After installation, the inspection and testing methods for a low net empty hand chain hoist should include the following aspects:
Inspection Methods
Visual Inspection of Components:
Hooks: Check for cracks, wear, and deformation. The dangerous section's wear should be less than 10% of the original size, the opening increase should be less than 15% of the original size, and the twist deformation should be less than 10%. The plate hook bushing wear should be less than 50% of the original size, and the plate hook spindle wear should be less than 5%.
Wire Rope: Ensure the surface wire wear and corrosion are less than 40% of the wire diameter, and the number of broken wires in one lay length is less than 10% of the total number of wires. Check for no断头 (broken ends), significant thinning, no core protrusion, no dead angle twisting, no twisting deformation, and no annealing or burn damage. The wire rope end connections and fixings should be complete, with no looseness, and there should be at least 8 clamps.
Brake: Inspect for no cracks, looseness, or severe wear. The brake clearance should be equal on both sides, with an appropriate size, and sufficient braking force. The brake band wear should be less than 50% of the original thickness.
Drum: Check for no cracks, loose connections, or fixings. The drum wall wear should be less than 20% of the original wall thickness, with at least two safety coils. The ratio of the drum diameter to the wire rope diameter should meet the requirements.
Gears: Ensure the gear rim, web, and shell have no cracks. If a gear has a cracked tooth or a broken tooth with a length reaching 1/4 of the tooth length and a height exceeding 1/5 of the tooth height, or if the tooth thickness wear exceeds 15-20%, the gear should be replaced.
Traveling Wheels: Check for wear on the wheel rim thickness, which should not exceed 40% of the original thickness. The rolling surface wear should not exceed 15-20% of the wheel diameter. If there are partial cracks on the wheel rim or pits with an area of 1 cm² and a depth of 3 mm or more on the rolling surface, the wheel should be replaced.
Sprockets and Chains: Inspect the chain for smooth movement, no kinking, and no excessive wear. The sprockets should have no cracks or significant wear.
Structural Integrity Check:
Frame and Supports: Verify that the hoist's frame and supports are intact, with no cracks or deformations.
Mounting: Ensure the hoist is securely mounted or suspended from a stable and strong support structure.
Safety Devices Inspection:
Limit Switches: Test the limit switches to ensure they function correctly and prevent over-travel.
Load Limiter: If equipped, test the load limiter to ensure it accurately measures and limits the load.
Testing Methods
No-Load Test:
Operation: Operate the hoist without a load to check for smooth and consistent movement of the chain and hooks.
Controls: Test all controls, including the lifting and lowering mechanisms, to ensure they respond correctly.
Noise and Vibration: Listen for any unusual noises or feel for excessive vibrations during operation.
Loaded Test:
Gradual Loading: Gradually apply a load to the hoist, starting with a light load and increasing to the rated load capacity.
Performance: Observe the hoist's performance under load, checking for any signs of strain, slipping, or overheating.
Safety Devices: Verify that the safety devices, such as the load limiter and brakes, function correctly under load.
Static Load Test:
Procedure: Apply a test load of 1.25 times the rated load capacity to the hoist, lift it off the ground by 100-200 mm, and hold it for at least 10 minutes. Repeat this process three times.
Acceptance Criteria: The hoist should show no permanent deformation, cracks, paint peeling, or other damage that affects its performance or safety. There should be no looseness or damage at the connections.
Dynamic Load Test:
Procedure: Apply a dynamic load of 1.1 times the rated load capacity to the hoist and perform various operations, including lifting, lowering, and traversing, for at least 1 hour.
Acceptance Criteria: All working mechanisms should operate smoothly and normally, with no abnormal vibrations, impacts, overheating, or abnormal noises. The safety devices, such as limit switches and brakes, should function reliably. The control system, interlocking, and mutual locking devices should operate accurately, and the power supply device should work normally. There should be no leakage in the hydraulic (pneumatic) system, and the lubrication system should work normally.
