Precautions for lever chain hoist at different stages of use

During the use of a lever type chain hoist, different preventive measures need to be taken in the three stages of pre use, during use, and post use to ensure operational safety, extend equipment life, and avoid accidents. The following are specific precautions for each stage:

Preventive measures before use

Equipment inspection:

Rotating parts: Check if they are flexible and if there is any chain jamming.

Chain: Check for broken joints and cracks to ensure that the chain is intact and undamaged.

Brake: Check for safety and reliability to ensure good braking performance.

Pin: Check for firmness to prevent detachment during use.

Hanging ropes and support beams: Check for firmness and stability to ensure they can withstand the predetermined load.

Lifting chain: Check for any twisting phenomenon, adjust it if necessary before use.

Safety devices: Confirm that safety protection devices such as limiters and anti decoupling devices are sensitive and effective.

Environmental assessment:

Assess the work environment to ensure that the ground is solid and level, and that the bearing capacity meets the equipment requirements.

Clear the obstacles within the scope of the operation, such as pipelines, low-lying areas, debris, etc., and delineate a clear work area.

Adequate lighting is required for night work, and lifting is prohibited when the light is poor.

In case of strong wind (exceeding the specified wind speed of the equipment), rainstorm, heavy snow, fog and other severe weather, operation is strictly prohibited.

Personnel preparation:

Operators must hold a valid special operation certificate and are strictly prohibited from operating without a certificate.

Operators should be familiar with the performance of the equipment and perform correct operations.

Conduct safety technical briefing before homework, clarify the division of labor and responsibilities of command, operation, supervision and other personnel.

Load inspection:

Verify the weight of the suspended object and strictly prohibit overloading (including dynamic and static overloading).

Check that the lifting equipment and rigging (wire ropes, shackles, slings, etc.) match the specifications and are intact and undamaged.

The lifted object should be securely tied, with protective pads added at the edges and corners. The center of gravity should be clear and located directly below the hook to avoid tilting or swinging.

Preventive measures during use

Operating standards:

When operating a chain hoist, first pull the bracelet back and loosen the lifting chain to provide sufficient lifting distance for the chain hoist. Then slowly lift it up and wait for the chain to tighten. Check for any abnormalities in each part and ensure that the hooks are suitable. Only after confirming that everything is normal can the operation continue.

When the chain hoist is used for horizontal and inclined operations, the direction of the zipper should be consistent with the direction of the sprocket to avoid chain jamming or falling off.

During the process of lifting heavy objects, if the object needs to stay in the air for a long time, the hand zipper should be properly fastened to the lifting chain to prevent accidents caused by the malfunction of the self-locking mechanism of the equipment.

Strictly abide by the "Ten No Hanging" principle: Do not hang if the command signal is unclear or chaotic; Not lifting objects with unclear mass or overload; An object that is inclined is not suspended; Standing on heavy objects or floating objects without lifting; The workplace is dimly lit, making it difficult to see the area, suspended objects, and command signals clearly; Do not hang when encountering buried objects with unclear tension; If the workpiece is not securely tied or hung, it will not be lifted; Do not lift heavy objects without padding between the edges and ropes; Do not lift when there are defects or damages in the structure or components that affect safe operation; Steel (iron) cannot be lifted when the water is too full.

Load management:

The number of zippers should be determined based on the lifting capacity of the chain hoist. When the zipper cannot be pulled by hand, the cause should be identified and personnel should not be added to forcefully pull it to avoid accidents.

Do not use the limit position limiter to stop, and do not adjust the brake of the lifting and amplitude changing mechanism under load.

When the lifted object approaches or reaches the rated lifting capacity, the brake should be checked before lifting, and a small height and short stroke test should be conducted before lifting.

Environmental monitoring:

Pay close attention to changes in the work environment. In case of severe weather or changes in ground conditions, immediately stop the work and take corresponding measures.

Ensure that no unrelated personnel enter the work area to avoid accidents.

Preventive measures after use

Equipment maintenance:

Chain cranes should be regularly maintained, and rotating parts should be lubricated and oiled in a timely manner to prevent chain corrosion.

Chains that are severely corroded, have broken marks, and cracks should be scrapped or replaced, and cannot be used interchangeably.

Check if all connecting bolts and other components are securely fastened, and if all connecting pins are inserted into the split pins.

Check whether an appropriate amount of lubricating oil is added to the reducers of each mechanism, and whether sufficient lubricating grease is applied to each open gear.

Equipment storage:

Chain hoists should be stored in a dry, ventilated, and non corrosive gas environment to avoid moisture and corrosion.

When storing, the chain should be loosened and placed properly to avoid being squeezed or twisted.

Record and report:

Record the usage of the chain hoist, including lifting weight, usage time, malfunction situation, etc.

If any faults or hidden dangers are found in the equipment, they should be reported in a timely manner and measures should be taken to deal with them.
