Requirements for the operation of manual forklifts

The operation of manual forklifts must strictly follow safety regulations and maintenance requirements. The following will explain from four aspects: preparation before operation, operation process, safety precautions, and maintenance:

1、 Preparation before operation: Conduct a comprehensive inspection to eliminate potential hazards

Equipment inspection

Hydraulic system: Check whether the hydraulic cylinder leaks, whether the oil level is within the normal range, and ensure that the hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor have no abnormal noise or vibration.

Fork and Chain: Confirm that the fork is free from deformation, cracks, or burrs, and the chain is not loose or worn. The length of the fork should be greater than or equal to the length of the pallet to prevent the goods from tipping over.

Tires and brakes: Check the tire pressure, wear and tear, and whether there are cracks to ensure that the brake is sensitive and reliable, and the brake fluid is within the scale range.

Lights and alarms: Ensure that the headlights, turn signals, reverse alarms, and other devices are working properly to avoid operational risks at night or when visibility is obstructed.

Pulley device: Remove foreign objects from the pulley to ensure flexible rotation without jamming.

Personnel Requirements

Operators need to receive specialized training, be familiar with operating methods and safety precautions, and obtain operating qualification certificates.

Suitable work clothes and safety shoes must be worn during homework. It is strictly prohibited to wear slippers, high heels, or operate under the influence of alcohol.

2、 Operation process: Standardize steps to ensure safety

Suppression and Enhancement

Turn the control handle to the lower position and press the directional handle to apply pressure. The weight of the forked cargo must not exceed the rated load.

After the fork is fully inserted under the cargo, slowly lift the cargo to a height of 5-10 centimeters above the ground to keep it stable.

Handling and transportation

Maintain a constant speed during transportation, with a speed not exceeding 3 kilometers per hour (the normal walking speed for adults is about 5 kilometers per hour), and slow down when turning to avoid tipping over.

It is strictly prohibited to operate on muddy, uneven ground or slopes. If passing through a slope, the inclination should be ≤ 2%, and the pallet truck should be unloaded with the fork arm facing downhill.

Unloading and Storage

After arriving at the destination, turn the control handle to the upper position to release pressure until the goods land smoothly.

When the empty vehicle is running, press and lift the fork appropriately to avoid wear and tear between the front axle support frame and the ground.

After completing the homework, lower the fork to the lowest position and store it in the designated area.

3、 Safety precautions: strictly observe taboos and prevent accidents

Load and Balance

Overloading, unbalanced loading, or single fork operation are strictly prohibited. Goods must be evenly placed at the center of the fork to avoid tipping due to center of gravity deviation.

It is prohibited to load unstable or loosely packaged goods. If handling is required, personnel must be arranged to support or use specialized containers to secure them.

Personnel and cargo safety

It is strictly prohibited to carry people, slide or play on the fork, and it is forbidden to stay or cross under the fork when it is raised.

When the operator's line of sight is obstructed, it is strictly prohibited to work to avoid colliding with others or equipment.

Special scene taboos

It is prohibited to park heavy objects on slopes for a long time. If work is required, anti-skid measures must be taken and directed by a dedicated person.

It is strictly prohibited to use forks to directly shovel and transport flammable and explosive materials or compressed gas cylinders. When handling hazardous chemicals, safety measures such as electrostatic grounding must be installed.

4、 Maintenance and upkeep: Regular inspections to extend lifespan

routine maintenance

Clean the surface dust and oil stains of the forklift, with a focus on cleaning the fork frame, slide rail, generator, and other parts.

Check the fastening of all parts, including fork support, lifting chain tightening screws, wheel fixing pins, etc.

Check the flexibility of the steering gear, brake fluid level, and tire pressure to ensure no air leaks or excessive wear.

regular maintenance

Lubrication and maintenance: Regularly add lubricating oil to the door frame, tilt cylinder, chain, pin shaft and other parts to reduce wear and tear.

Hydraulic system inspection: Check the cleanliness of the hydraulic oil, replace aging seals, and prevent leaks.

Electrical system inspection: Check whether the wires, plugs, and switches are damaged, and whether the battery needs to be charged or replaced.

Long term disuse and scrapping

Newly purchased or long-term idle forklifts should have their bearings thoroughly replaced with old oil and lubricated multiple times within two weeks of initial use.

Damaged equipment must be repaired or scrapped in a timely manner, and work with defects is prohibited to avoid the risk of accidents.
