The rust prevention of hydraulic forklifts needs to start from five core aspects: daily cleaning, protection of key parts, maintenance of hydraulic systems, management of storage environment, and training on operating standards. Combined with regular inspections and preventive maintenance, it can significantly reduce the risk of rust and extend the service life of equipment. The following are specific rust prevention methods and analysis:

1、 Daily cleaning and dirt treatment

Regularly clean the surface dirt

Hydraulic forklifts operate in environments such as warehouses and ports for a long time, and their surfaces are prone to accumulate dust, oil stains, and industrial waste gas particles. These dirt will adsorb moisture, form electrolyte solutions, and accelerate the electrochemical corrosion of metals.

Operation suggestion: After daily homework, clean the surface of the forklift with a dry cloth or compressed air, focusing on cleaning the fork frame, door frame slide, chain, oil cylinder and other parts that are prone to dust accumulation. Thoroughly clean once a week with neutral cleaning agents and avoid using chlorine or acidic cleaning agents.

Remove soil from key areas

Exposed metal parts such as fork support, lifting chain tightening screws, and wheel screws are prone to soil contamination, and salt and microorganisms in the soil can exacerbate corrosion.

Operation suggestion: Check the above parts after each operation, remove the soil with a hard brush, and rinse with a high-pressure water gun (the water pressure should be controlled below 0.3MPa to avoid damaging the coating).

2、 Protection and inspection of key areas

Rust prevention treatment for metal parts

Fork and Chain: Fork is a component that directly contacts goods, and the chain frequently rubs during lifting, both of which are prone to wear and rust.

Protection method: Apply lithium based grease (such as Shell Alvania R3) to the forks and chains every month to form a protective film; Check the deformation of the fork every quarter, and replace it if the chain pitch exceeds 3% of the original size.

Hydraulic cylinder piston rod: The piston rod is exposed and susceptible to dust and moisture erosion.

Protection method: Install a dust cover (such as rubber or nylon material), check the integrity of the dust cover daily, and replace it promptly if it is damaged.

Rust prevention and inspection of fasteners

If fasteners such as wheel screws and brake screws become loose, it can cause high temperatures in metal parts due to friction, accelerating oxidation.

Operation suggestion: Use a torque wrench to check the torque of fasteners every week (reference value: wheel screw torque is 200-250N · m), and apply anti rust oil (such as WD-40) to the threads.

3、 Rust prevention maintenance of hydraulic system

Hydraulic oil selection and replacement

When the moisture content in hydraulic oil exceeds 0.1%, it can corrode precision components such as hydraulic pumps and valves.

Operation suggestion:

Choose anti-wear hydraulic oil (such as ISO VG46) with a water content of ≤ 0.05%;

Replace the hydraulic oil every 1000 hours or annually, and before replacement, filter the old oil with an oil filter (accuracy ≤ 10 μ m) to remove metal powder and impurities.

Rust prevention and sealing of hydraulic pipelines

The aging of hydraulic pipe joints and cylinder seals can cause hydraulic oil leakage, and the leaked hydraulic oil can corrode surrounding metal components.

Operation suggestion:

Check the hydraulic pipeline for leaks every month, with a focus on inspecting the sealing rings of the oil cylinder piston rod;

When replacing the sealing ring, choose FKM material, which has better oil resistance and corrosion resistance than NBR.

4、 Storage environment management

Dry and ventilated storage

A humid environment (relative humidity>70%) can accelerate metal corrosion, especially on unpainted frames and chassis.

Operation suggestion:

When parking forklifts, use moisture-proof pads (such as EPDM rubber material) to isolate ground moisture;

Install dehumidifiers in the warehouse to control the relative humidity between 40% -60%.

Avoid direct sunlight

Ultraviolet radiation can damage the surface coating of forklifts and reduce their corrosion resistance.

Operation suggestion: Install sunshades on warehouse windows or cover forklifts with sun shields (such as PVC coated canvas).

5、 Operating standards and training

Avoid rough handling

Rapid acceleration and braking can cause impact loads on forklift components, causing the protective layer on the metal surface to peel off and exposing the substrate.

Operation suggestion: Develop the "Forklift Safety Operation Regulations", requiring drivers to operate smoothly and avoid the forklift hitting the ground or cargo.

Regular training and assessment

The lack of rust prevention knowledge among drivers can lead to inadequate maintenance (such as failure to clean dirt in a timely manner and failure to apply lubricating grease according to regulations).
