The following is a summary of common faults in explosion-proof electric hoists:

1. Failure to Start or Operate

No Power Supply: The hoist may not receive the rated working voltage due to issues like unpowered supply systems or blown fuses. Check the power supply and replace fuses if necessary.

Phase Loss: Damage to electrical components or poor connections in the main or control circuits can cause phase loss, preventing the motor from starting. Inspect and repair the circuits and components.

Low Voltage: If the motor's input voltage is more than 10% below the rated voltage, the starting torque will be insufficient. Use a voltmeter to check the voltage and wait for it to stabilize if necessary.

Motor Burnout: If the motor is burned out, it will need to be replaced. Regularly inspect and maintain the motor to prevent this.

Rusted Brake Components: If the hoist has been left unused for a long time, the brake wheel and end cover may rust, causing the brake to fail to disengage. Disassemble and clean the rusted parts.

2. Abnormal Noises During Operation

Control Circuit Noises: A humming noise in the control circuit may indicate a faulty contactor, such as poor contact or a stuck magnetic core. Inspect and repair or replace the contactor.

Motor Noises: Unusual noises from the motor may be due to single-phase operation, damaged bearings, misaligned coupling, or "scanning" (where the rotor rubs against the stator). Stop the hoist immediately and inspect the motor.

3. Unreliable Braking (Excessive Slipping)

Worn Brake Ring: If the brake ring is worn, the brake spring pressure decreases, reducing braking force. Adjust the brake bolt or replace the brake ring.

Oil on Brake Surface: Oil on the brake surface reduces friction, causing slipping. Clean the brake surface thoroughly.

Loose or Damaged Brake Ring: If the brake ring is loose or damaged, it cannot provide effective braking. Replace the brake ring.

Poor Contact Between Brake Ring and End Cover: If the brake ring does not make good contact with the end cover, the braking force will be insufficient. Repair or replace the affected parts.

Faulty Coupling or Pressure Spring: If the coupling is stuck or the pressure spring is fatigued, the braking effect will be unstable. Inspect and repair or replace the coupling or spring.

4. Overheating of the Motor

Overloading: Overloading the hoist can cause the motor to overheat. Reduce the load and operate within the rated capacity.

Damaged Bearings: Damaged motor bearings can cause overheating. Inspect and replace the bearings if necessary.

Excessive Friction Due to Small Brake Clearance: If the brake clearance is too small, the motor will experience excessive friction, leading to overheating. Adjust the brake clearance.

5. Failure to Restart After Stopping

Low or Unstable Voltage: If the voltage is too low or fluctuates, the hoist may not restart. Wait for the voltage to stabilize.

Phase Loss After Stopping: If the motor experiences phase loss while running, it may not restart. Check the power supply phase.

Faulty Contactor or Limit Switch: If the contactor's contacts are welded or the limit switch is faulty, the hoist may not stop or restart properly. Inspect and repair or replace the faulty components.

6. Oil Leakage from the Reducer

Poorly Installed or Damaged Seals: If the seals between the reducer body and cover are not properly installed or are damaged, oil may leak. Disassemble and repair or replace the seals.

Loose Connecting Bolts: If the connecting bolts of the reducer are loose, oil may leak. Tighten the bolts after stopping the hoist.

7. Motor "Scanning"

Worn Support Ring or Displaced Rotor/Stator: If the support ring on the motor shaft is severely worn or the rotor/stator is displaced, "scanning" may occur. Disassemble and replace the support ring or adjust the gap between the rotor and stator.
