Protection and inspection methods for European wire rope electric hoists

1、 Daily protective measures

Lubrication and maintenance

Lubrication of steel wire rope: Regularly apply specialized lubricating oil or calcium based anti rust grease to reduce wear and corrosion. Experiments have shown that the breakage rate of oil coated steel wire ropes is reduced by 50% compared to those without oil coating.

Gear and bearing lubrication: Use manufacturer specified original lubricants to avoid damage to components from low-grade grease. When exposed to extreme temperatures for a long time (below -25 ℃ or above+55 ℃), it is recommended to use synthetic lubricants.

Anti corrosion treatment

Steel wire rope selection: In humid or corrosive environments, galvanized or aluminum coated steel wire ropes are preferred, as the zinc hydroxide/aluminum film formed on their surface can effectively prevent rust.

Shell protection: Stainless steel shell has strong integrity and is easy to clean, aluminum alloy shell requires anodizing treatment, and carbon steel shell requires multi-layer coating to isolate the environment.

Operating Specifications

Vertical lifting: Avoid inclined pulling and lifting, reduce lateral force on the steel wire rope, and prevent the rope guide from breaking or the steel wire rope from slipping out of the groove.

Load control: Overloading operation is strictly prohibited, and overload protection devices (sensitivity 110% -125% rated load) should be used to automatically stop overloading operation.

Environmental adaptation: In a clean room environment, use 304/316 stainless steel wire rope with a smooth surface to reduce dust accumulation; The pulleys and drums are made of engineering plastics or aluminum alloys to reduce friction and dust generation.

2、 Regular inspection methods

Wire rope inspection

Daily observation: Operators check the visible parts of the steel wire rope daily, focusing on broken wires, deformation, corrosion, and fatigue points.

Periodic inspection:

General lifting machinery: At least one safety inspection per month.

Construction site lifting machinery: at least once a week.

Lifting dangerous goods (such as molten metals, acid solutions): at least twice a week.

Key parts: Check the fixed connection parts of the rope end, the winding section of the pulley group, the balance pulley rope section, and the easily worn section.

Safety device testing

Limit switch: Verify the upper and lower limit functions to ensure that the hook moves within a safe range. During testing, when the hook rises to a high position, the limiter should be triggered and stopped. The distance between the upper end face of the pulley housing and the lower end face of the drum housing should be maintained at 5-150mm. When the hook descends to a low position, the circuit should be cut off, and 2-3 turns of steel wire rope should be retained on the drum.

Emergency stop button: After pressing the button, the hoist should immediately stop running and cannot be moved through the button.

Brake: Check if the brake can reliably maintain the position of the cargo and prevent accidental sliding.

Mechanical component inspection

Gears and bearings: Check for damage, looseness, or abnormal noise, and replace worn parts if necessary.

Rope guide: Ensure that the steel wire rope is properly arranged in the drum groove to prevent it from slipping out of the groove or being wound randomly.

Hook: Check the strength of the hot forging and the integrity of the safety tongue to prevent detachment accidents.

Control box: Verify the sensitivity of switches and buttons, ensure that the control circuit is correct, and the operating direction is consistent with the button indication.

3、 Maintenance points in special environments

Cleanroom environment

Material selection: The steel wire rope is made of 316 stainless steel, the pulley and drum are made of engineering plastic or aluminum alloy, and the hook and main structural components are made of 316L low-carbon stainless steel.

Surface treatment: Stainless steel parts are electrochemically polished to a surface roughness Ra ≤ 0.4 μ m, aluminum alloy parts are anodized, and carbon steel parts are electroplated with nickel or chemically plated with nickel phosphorus alloy.

Cleaning and maintenance: Use specialized cleaning agents and dust-free cloths to wipe the surface, avoiding corrosive chemicals; Regularly check the integrity of the coating and any abnormal noises from moving parts.

Extreme temperature environment

Low temperature (below -25 ℃): Use synthetic lubricants to prevent component jamming caused by oil solidification.

High temperature (above+55 ℃): Strengthen heat dissipation design, such as aluminum alloy shell heat sinks or forced air cooling system, to avoid lubricant failure.

4、 Maintain records and scrap standards

Record maintenance logs: Detailed records of the time, content, and results of each inspection, lubrication, and component replacement for easy tracking of equipment status.

Scrap standard: When the steel wire rope reaches the scrap condition (such as the number of broken wires exceeding the standard, severe corrosion or deformation), it needs to be replaced immediately; After the safe working cycle (SWP) of the entire machine reaches its end, it must be thoroughly inspected by the manufacturer or authorized agency before it can continue to be used.
