The causes of damage to a lever chain hoist can be classified into four categories: material and manufacturing defects, mechanical wear and fatigue, improper operation and maintenance, and environmental factors, as follows:

1、 Material and manufacturing defects

Insufficient steel performance: Some manufacturing companies choose lower performance steel to reduce costs, resulting in insufficient structural strength of the crane, which is prone to deformation or damage.

Poor quality of components: In the selection of components, products with lower prices tend to have lower corrosion resistance and wear resistance, which accelerates equipment wear and aging.

2、 Mechanical wear and fatigue

Wear of drum and wire rope: Long term friction between drum and wire rope leads to thinning of the drum wall. When the thinning reaches a certain degree or cracks appear, the drum may break due to the inability to withstand the weight of the wire rope.

The force on the steel wire rope is complex: When lifting heavy objects, the force on the steel wire rope is complex, and the force distribution on the steel wire at different positions is uneven. When passing around the drum and pulley, stress is generated, which makes the steel wire rope prone to breakage.

Excessive number of times the pulley and drum are wound: If the pulley and drum are wound too many times, the steel wire rope will repeatedly change from curved to straight or from straight to curved, resulting in damage or breakage of the steel wire rope.

Fatigue cracks: Long term use or wear can increase stress values, and components such as drums and hooks are prone to fatigue cracks. If not replaced in a timely manner, it may lead to accidents such as heavy objects falling.

3、 Improper operation and maintenance

Overloading usage: Overloading is one of the common causes of crane damage, which can lead to excessive structural stress, accelerated wear and aging.

Insufficient lubrication: Failure to regularly lubricate moving parts such as drums and wire ropes can increase friction and wear, shortening the service life of the equipment.

Inadequate maintenance: Failure to conduct comprehensive inspections and maintenance of the crane on a regular basis, resulting in the inability to promptly identify and address potential safety hazards.

Improper operation: The operator did not follow the operating procedures, such as suddenly applying force or pulling the lever forcefully, which may cause the equipment to lose control or be damaged.

4、 Environmental factors have an impact

Corrosive environment: When working in rainy, snowy, or humid environments, the surface of the crane is prone to rusting, resulting in reduced structural performance and insufficient bearing capacity.

High temperature environment: When working in a high temperature environment, crane components are easily affected by thermal expansion, leading to performance degradation or damage.

Adverse weather conditions: Working under strong winds, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions may increase the risk of crane overturning or cause damage to other components.
