Paint surface and rust prevention treatment

Observe whether the paint surface of the gourd shell is smooth and intact, without spots, wrinkles, bubbles, or paint peeling. The surface of the chain should be treated with rust prevention (such as applying rust proof grease, silver powder paint or blue treatment), and the exposed metal parts that have not been painted should be coated with rust proof grease.

Castings such as sprockets should be free of defects such as cracks, slag inclusions, sand holes, pores, and white spots to ensure the strength of the metal structure.

Component integrity

Check whether the hook is deformed or cracked, especially paying attention to the hook tip, bent parts, and dangerous sections (such as the hook neck). If the hook markings are blurred or missing, the rated lifting capacity needs to be recalculated, and overloading is strictly prohibited.

Confirm that the chain connection is secure, without breakage or excessive wear (replace immediately when the chain diameter wear reaches 15%).

2、 Functional testing verification

Smooth operation

Slowly pull the bracelet to test if the transmission part is flexible, without any jamming, chain jumping, or abnormal noise. When the bracelet wheel rotates clockwise, the heavy object should rise steadily, and when it rotates counterclockwise, it should slowly descend.

Try to reverse the light handle chain. Under normal circumstances, the lowering handle should not be able to be pulled or only move slightly (brake clearance). At this time, the pawl should be tightly engaged with the ratchet to prevent reversal.

Braking reliability

During the lifting and lowering process, suddenly stop pulling the handle and check if the brake is sensitive and reliable, without any slipping phenomenon. For example, lift the load to a height of 300mm and let it stand for 1 hour to confirm that there is no self sliding.

Friction disc brakes need to be disassembled and inspected for wear (which can be indirectly judged by brake reliability in daily life). If the brake fails, it may be due to lubricating oil contamination of the friction disc, and it needs to be cleaned immediately.

Use weights or equivalent weights that meet the requirements for testing, with the weight accurately equal to the rated lifting capacity of the hoist. For example, gradually load to 1.5 times the rated load on a dedicated test bench, stay for 10 minutes, and check that the clamp and clamping plate have no permanent deformation.

Power free environment: In the wild, during power outages or temporary construction sites, manual hoists are preferred to avoid the limitations of relying on electric equipment.

Small scale operations: light load scenarios such as home garages and small repairs, manual hoists have low initial investment costs and simple maintenance.

Harsh environment: Manual hoists made of corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant materials should be selected in high temperature, high humidity, or corrosive environments, and the inspection cycle should be shortened (such as once every six months).

The initial investment cost of manual hoists is lower than that of electric hoists, and maintenance is simple (only requiring regular lubrication and cleaning). However, it should be noted that long-term frequent use may result in a higher total cost of ownership (TCO) than electric hoists due to rising labor costs, and a comprehensive evaluation should be conducted based on the frequency of use.

Operational Convenience

The number of zippers needs to match the lifting capacity of the hoist. If one person cannot pull it, the hoist should be checked for damage, and it is strictly prohibited to increase the number of zippers or forcefully operate. For example, when the weight is large, it is necessary to replace the hoist with a larger tonnage and ensure that the zipper direction is consistent with the chain direction to prevent chain jamming.
