Precautions and safety regulations for the use of chain hoists

1、 Pre operation inspection

Equipment integrity check

Check whether key components such as chains, hooks, gears, brakes, and braking devices are intact, without deformation, cracks, wear, or severe corrosion. The anti detachment device of the hook must be effective, the pin at the root of the chain must be firmly fixed, the chain must be free of broken joints, cracks or severe rust, the braking system must be sensitive and reliable, and the rotating parts must be flexible and free of jamming.

Check the rated load label to ensure that it is not overloaded for use (e.g. 0.75 ton hoist is strictly prohibited from overloading operation).

Environmental and support point inspection

The structure of the hanging gourd should be firm and reliable, with horizontal and stable support points to avoid tilting or shaking. The work area needs to be cleared of obstacles to ensure the safety of the operating space and avoid humid, high-temperature, or corrosive environments (protective measures should be taken if necessary).

Check if the hanging ropes and support beams are sturdy and stable, and if the bracelet has any slipping or falling chains.

2、 Safety regulations during operation

Lifting and operation

Trial lifting confirmation: Before lifting, slowly lift the heavy object to a height of 10-20cm above the ground, check the stability of the equipment and whether all components are normal, and confirm safety before continuing the operation.

Overloading is strictly prohibited: strictly adhere to the rated load, and prohibit diagonal pulling, hard pulling, or tying heavy objects with chains. The chain should be hung vertically to avoid tangling or twisting, and double row chains should be careful not to rotate the lower hook.

Operating posture: The operator should stand on the side or in a safe position of the hoist, avoiding standing under heavy objects or in the direction of force on the hoist. Zipper should be done at a steady and slow speed to avoid sudden acceleration or sudden stop, and to prevent heavy objects from shaking or equipment damage.

Multi person collaboration: Clear signals should be used for communication and coordinated actions when operating with multiple people; Non operational personnel are prohibited from approaching the lifting area.

Special scenario handling

No staying under heavy objects: During the lifting process, it is strictly prohibited to stand under heavy objects or within the range of the hoist to prevent falling accidents.

Exception handling: If the device cannot be pulled or is found to be abnormal (such as abnormal noise or jamming), immediately stop the operation and check the cause. Do not forcefully pull it. Need to investigate issues such as chain entanglement, brake failure, overload, etc., and replace equipment or contact professionals if necessary.

Tilt operation: When performing horizontal and inclined operations, the direction of the zipper should be consistent with the rotation direction of the sprocket to avoid chain jamming or falling off. If necessary, an object should be placed at the entrance of the chain to support it.

3、 Maintenance and storage after operation

Cleaning and lubrication

Clean the dust, oil stains, and debris on the surface of the gourd after use and keep it dry. Regularly lubricate moving parts such as chains, gears, bearings, etc. to reduce wear and extend service life. The friction surface of the brake should be kept clean, and the braking performance should be checked regularly to prevent brake failure from causing heavy objects to fall off.

Storage and maintenance

Store in a dry, ventilated, and non corrosive gas environment to avoid moisture or rust. When stored for a long time, anti rust oil should be applied, and static load tests (with a rated load of 10cm off the ground and standing for 10 minutes) and dynamic load tests should be conducted regularly to ensure reliable equipment performance.

The repaired gourd needs to be retested to confirm safety before use. Regularly add lubricating oil to rotating components to prevent chain corrosion; For chains that are severely corroded, have broken marks, and cracks, they are not allowed to be used interchangeably and should be replaced with new chains.

4、 Common faults and preventive measures

Chain malfunction: When worn, broken, or deformed, it should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid damaging the chain during use. Chain jamming or twisting needs to be adjusted or replaced to prevent parts damage caused by excessive operating force.

Brake system malfunction: brake pads are contaminated or worn and need to be cleaned or replaced to ensure that the braking torque meets the standard; If the pawl or spring fails, it needs to be adjusted or replaced to ensure reliable braking.

Hook malfunction: Replace immediately if wear exceeds 10% or deformation occurs to prevent breakage accidents.

Gear failure: When cracks, broken teeth or tooth surface wear reaches 30%, it needs to be scrapped and replaced. Regular lubrication should be carried out to reduce wear.

Electrical faults: Regularly inspect cables, wiring terminals, switches, and other parts to ensure their normal operation and safety; Clean and insulate the electrical system to prevent crane accidents caused by electrical faults.

5、 Security standard updates and regulatory requirements

According to the Safety Technical Regulations for Cranes (TSG 51-2023), the renovation unit must be a manufacturing unit, and the renovation activities must be carried out in a licensed location. The renovated lifting machinery must undergo supervision and inspection (including continuous operation tests and metal structure stress tests).

The definition and scope of mobile operation lifting machinery are clear, including tower cranes, construction lifts, etc., which require frequent relocation of work locations.

The principle for determining the rated lifting capacity has been updated, and for cranes with detachable lifting equipment, the weight of the lifting equipment needs to be considered; When carrying out double trolley lifting operations, the rated lifting capacity should be calculated based on the lifting capacity of the trolley.

6、 Safety protection and emergency response

Personnel protection: Operators must wear protective equipment such as safety helmets, gloves, goggles, etc., and wear safety belts when working at heights. Regular health check ups are conducted to ensure that the physical condition meets the operational requirements.

Emergency measures: In case of equipment failure or abnormal situation, immediately stop operation and evacuate personnel, and contact professional maintenance personnel for handling. When heavy objects are suspended for a long time, operators must not leave the site and take measures to prevent falling and tilting.

Accident handling: In the event of accidents such as biological impact, mechanical injury, electric shock, etc., it is necessary to immediately organize rescue of the injured, dispose of them according to the severity of the injury, and report to relevant departments.
