Precautions for manual forklifts at different stages of use
1、 Pre use inspection stage
Hydraulic system inspection
Check whether the hydraulic cylinder leaks, ensure that the hydraulic oil is sufficient and free of impurities. If the hydraulic oil is insufficient or contaminated, it should be replenished or replaced in a timely manner to avoid hydraulic system failure.
Test hydraulic operations (such as pressurization and depressurization) to confirm that the hydraulic rod rises and falls smoothly without any jamming or abnormal noise.
Mechanical component inspection
Check if the pulley device is effective, remove foreign objects (such as tangled ropes and debris) on the pulley to prevent obstruction during operation.
Confirm that the length of the fork is greater than the length of the pallet being transported to avoid the center of gravity of the goods shifting and causing tipping.
Check whether the wheel axle and nuts are tightened, whether the welds or support plates are damaged, to prevent mechanical components from loosening and causing accidents.
Safety device inspection
Ensure that the braking system (such as handbrake and foot brake) is sensitive and reliable to avoid slipping or losing control.
Check if the fork locking device is intact to prevent the fork from accidentally falling off during transportation.
2、 Operation phase
Loading and Handling
Load specification: Overloading, unbalanced loading, or single fork operation are strictly prohibited, and the weight of the goods must be within the rated load range of the forklift. Overloading may cause damage to the hydraulic system or tipping of the forklift.
Fixed goods: The goods should be neatly stacked on pallets, with the center of gravity centered to avoid tilting back, forth, left, and right. For loose packaging or unstable goods, personnel should be arranged to support or use fixing devices.
Operating speed: The running speed should not exceed 3 kilometers per hour (the normal walking speed for adults is about 5 kilometers per hour), and the speed should be reduced when turning to prevent inertia from causing the goods to tip over or the forklift to lose control.
Special scenario operation
Slope use: It is strictly prohibited to operate manual forklifts directly on slopes. If it is necessary to pass through a slope, it is necessary to ensure that the slope inclination is ≤ 2%, and the forklift is unloaded with the forks facing downhill. The operator must not stand directly in front of the forklift to avoid inertia causing excessive speed and loss of control.
High and low handling: When handling high objects and low loads, lower the fork to the lowest position to prevent the goods from falling off; When carrying low loads and high loads, ensure that the forks are fully inserted under the shelves and keep the goods stable before pulling them.
Environmental restrictions: Avoid using forklifts on muddy, uneven, or slippery surfaces to prevent wheel slippage or damage to mechanical components.
personnel security
It is strictly prohibited to carry people or work on forks, and it is forbidden to place any part of the body near mechanical lifting components, under forks, or on the loaded goods.
When the operator's line of sight is obstructed (such as when the goods are too high and obstruct the line of sight), the operation should be stopped or a dedicated person should be arranged to command to avoid colliding with others or equipment.
3、 Post use maintenance phase
Cleaning and Storage
Clean the surface and hydraulic system of the forklift, remove oil, dust, and debris to prevent corrosion or blockage.
Lower the forks to the lowest position and store them in a dry, ventilated designated area to avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or high temperatures.
regular maintenance
Lubrication maintenance: Regularly apply lubricating grease to friction parts such as axles, sealing rings, and roller bearings to reduce wear and maintain flexible rotation.
Fastener inspection: Check whether the fasteners such as axles, nuts, brackets, etc. are loose, and tighten or replace damaged parts in a timely manner.
Wheel replacement: visually inspect the wear of the wheels to ensure normal rotation and no debris entanglement. If the casters are damaged or loose, they should be replaced immediately and the axles locked to prevent the wheels from rubbing against the brackets and getting stuck.
Fault handling
When hydraulic leakage, mechanical deformation, or safety device failure is found, it is necessary to immediately stop using and repair it, and it is strictly prohibited to work with problems.
Before long-term use, it is necessary to drain the hydraulic oil and clean the system to prevent the oil from deteriorating and damaging components.
