1、 Cleaning and dirt management

Timely removal of dirt: dirt, dust, salt, chemical residues (such as fertilizers, cleaning agents, food juices, de icing salts), grease, and moisture are all catalysts for corrosion. After the homework, visible stains on the forklift should be immediately removed, especially on key parts such as the fork frame and door frame slide, generator and starter, battery electrode fork column, water tank, air filter, etc.

Regular deep cleaning: According to the severity of the working environment, conduct deep cleaning regularly (such as weekly). If scratches, peeling or rust spots are found, the area should be cleaned immediately, and rust removal should be carried out (sandpaper polishing or chemical rust remover), and anti rust primer and matching topcoat should be applied. Choose industrial grade paint with good corrosion resistance.

Utilizing galvanized layer: Many forklift components, such as fork frames and chassis structures, are treated with hot-dip galvanizing to provide excellent rust protection. This layer of zinc should be protected to avoid severe scratching.

Apply anti rust wax/anti-corrosion agent: Apply anti rust wax or anti-corrosion agent (such as Tectyl products) to areas that are difficult to spray or require additional protection (such as internal structures, wire harness joints, metal fittings, welds, bolt connections). They can form a protective film to isolate moisture and air.

3、 Lubrication and Sealing

Adequate lubrication: Strictly follow the maintenance manual requirements and use appropriate lubricating grease to fully lubricate all moving parts such as shafts, joints, chains, bearings, etc. Lubricating grease not only reduces friction and wear, but also forms an oil film barrier, isolating moisture and air, preventing "friction corrosion" and rust. Pay attention to using lubricating grease with rust proof and waterproof properties.

Ensure good sealing: Check and ensure that the sealing strips of door seams, wire harness penetrations, cover plate joints, etc. are intact to prevent water vapor and corrosive dust from entering the interior of the vehicle and electrical systems. Timely replace aging or damaged seals.

4、 Environmental control

Ventilation and dehumidification: In indoor warehouses, maintain good ventilation to reduce environmental humidity. In humid environments such as cold storage, consider using dehumidification equipment.

Avoid water accumulation: When parking, try to choose a dry and flat ground, and avoid parking in areas with water accumulation or humidity. Clean up the accumulated water on the vehicle body.

5、 Operating habits and regular inspections

Caution in operation: Avoid hitting or scratching hard objects (such as shelves, walls, and other equipment) to prevent damage to protective coatings and metal bodies. Smooth operation, reduce emergency stops and starts, and prevent cargo (especially liquids or corrosive substances) from spilling. Forklifts operating in cold storage must be defrosted before entering the room temperature zone to prevent the accumulation of condensed water.

Regular inspection: Incorporate corrosion inspection into daily inspections and regular maintenance plans. Focus on inspecting the fork roots, chains, door frame slides, chassis, wheel hubs, hydraulic cylinder rods, welds, wire harness connectors, fasteners, etc. Once rust is found, no matter how small, it should be treated immediately (cleaning, rust removal, applying protective layer) to prevent diffusion. At the same time, check and ensure that all drainage holes are unobstructed.
