Solution to the Defects of Manual Forklift Cattle

For the common defects of manual forklifts (ground oxen), the following targeted solutions can be adopted, covering four core areas: hydraulic system, structural components, operating mechanism, and daily maintenance:

1、 Solution to Defects in Hydraulic Systems

Unable to lift or difficult to lift

Reason for malfunction: Insufficient hydraulic oil, impurities or air in hydraulic oil, pressure relief valve not adjusted properly, worn or damaged seals.

Solution:

Check the hydraulic oil level to ensure it is around two-thirds of the cylinder body. If it is insufficient, add clean hydraulic oil.

Replace hydraulic oil containing impurities and eliminate air from the system.

Adjust the set screw of the pressure relief valve to ensure that the valve opening is appropriate.

Check whether the seals (such as O-rings and oil seals) are worn or damaged, and replace them in a timely manner.

The fork rises and then descends on its own

Reason for malfunction: Poor sealing performance of the control valve, resulting in hydraulic oil leakage.

Solution:

Check if the sealing ring of the control valve is worn or aged, and replace it if necessary.

Check whether the control valve itself is worn, and if there is wear, repair or replace it.

Hydraulic oil leakage

Reason for malfunction: worn or damaged seals, cracked or worn parts, dirty oil stains on the outer surface of hydraulic cylinders (possibly due to impurities entering or seal failure).

Solution:

Replace the seal with a new one to ensure good sealing.

Check and replace cracked or worn parts.

Clean the outer surface of the hydraulic cylinder, check for impurities entering, and replace the hydraulic oil if necessary.

2、 Solution for structural component defects

Arm deformation or breakage

Reason for malfunction: The pull arm is subjected to significant force during the pushing, pulling, and inflation processes, making it prone to deformation or breakage.

Solution:

Weld and reinforce the slightly deformed pull arm.

Replace severely deformed or broken pull arms.

Steering wheel malfunction

Reason for malfunction: Bearing damage, wheel axle retaining spring detachment.

Solution:

Replace damaged bearings.

Reinstall or replace the axle clamp spring.

Unbalanced fork arm

Reason for malfunction: During use, excessive load caused deformation or grinding of the pin shaft connecting the square connecting rod and the wheel fork, as well as the pin shaft connecting the wheel fork and the frame.

Solution:

Replace the sales shaft with a new one.

If the deformation is not severe, the length of the square connecting rod can be adjusted to balance the fork arm.

3、 Solution to Defects in Operating Mechanisms

Oil drain valve handle malfunction

Reason for malfunction: Improper adjustment of connection length and gap resulted in lifting failure.

Solution:

Adjust the length and gap of the connection to ensure flexible operation of the handle.

In severe cases, the handle can be abandoned and a long bolt top screw can be used to push the oil drain valve.

Brake system malfunction

Reason for malfunction: Two wheels cannot brake simultaneously (uneven brake clearance, pipeline blockage, oil stains in the brake drum or twisted and deformed brake shoes), hand brake failure (loose hand brake wire), brake failure (excessive clearance between the brake drum and brake shoes, ineffective inlet and outlet valves of the brake master cylinder, excessive wear of the brake friction pads or insufficient contact surface).

Solution:

Adjust the clearance between the two brakes, clear the pipeline, remove oil stains, or repair/replace the brake shoes.

Adjust the tightness of the handbrake wire.

Adjust the clearance between the brake drum and brake shoe, inspect the inlet and outlet valves, replace or repair the friction pads.

4、 Daily maintenance and upkeep suggestions

regular inspection

Regularly check the hydraulic oil quantity and quality to ensure the normal operation of the hydraulic system.

Check if the seals are worn or damaged, and replace them promptly.

Check whether the structural components (such as the pull arm, steering wheel, fork arm, etc.) are deformed or damaged, and repair or replace them in a timely manner.

Lubrication and maintenance

Regularly add lubricating oil to moving parts such as shafts and bearings to reduce wear and tear.

Pay special attention to load-bearing components such as nylon roller assemblies to ensure good lubrication.

Operating Specifications

Follow the operating procedures to avoid overloading, unbalanced loading, or single fork operation.

When operating on a slope, ensure that the slope inclination is ≤ 2% and that the fork arm is facing downhill when unloaded.

Avoid using on muddy or uneven ground to reduce the risk of colliding with others, equipment, or objects.
