What should be noted when using hydraulic forklifts

When using hydraulic forklifts (especially manual hydraulic forklifts), strict control should be exercised from four aspects: operating standards, safety protection, environmental adaptability, and maintenance to avoid damage to goods, personnel injury, or equipment failure. The following are specific precautions:

1、 Operating standards

Load limit

Overloading is strictly prohibited: The rated load of hydraulic forklifts is usually 1.6-3.0 tons. Overloading can cause fork deformation, hydraulic system leakage, or vehicle overturning. Before handling, it is necessary to confirm the weight of the goods and use them within the load range indicated on the forklift nameplate.

Uniformly distributed load: The center of gravity of the goods should be centered as much as possible to avoid unbalanced forklift caused by unbalanced load. For irregular goods, fixed devices such as straps and pallets should be used to ensure stability.

Lifting and handling actions

Slow lifting fork: When operating the hydraulic handle, constant force should be applied to avoid rapid lifting that may cause the goods to slip or damage the hydraulic system due to impact.

Maintain low speed driving: Manual hydraulic forklifts have no power drive, but speed control is still necessary during handling, especially when turning or passing through thresholds, to prevent cargo tipping or forklift overturning.

Do not make sudden stops or turns: Suddenly changing direction or stopping may cause the cargo to move forward inertia, so it is necessary to slow down in advance and operate smoothly.

Slope and ground adaptation

When going uphill, the fork should be in front of the forklift: When going uphill, the goods should be located in front of the forklift and stabilized by gravity; When going downhill, the opposite is true, with the fork at the back to prevent the goods from sliding down.

Avoid potholes and obstacles: Hydraulic forklifts do not have suspension systems, and uneven ground may cause the forks to shake or the goods to shift. It is necessary to clean the passage in advance.

2、 Security protection

Personnel protection

Wear protective equipment: Operators should wear safety helmets, non slip shoes, and reflective vests to prevent goods from falling and injuring or slipping.

Do not stand under the fork: During lifting or transportation, it is strictly prohibited for personnel to stand between the fork and the goods to avoid being crushed.

Maintain clear visibility: When handling tall goods, ensure that the operator can clearly see the path ahead and be guided by others if necessary.

Fixed goods

Use pallets or straps: For goods that are prone to rolling or loose (such as bottled liquids or bagged materials), they need to be carried on pallets and secured with straps to prevent scattering during transportation.

Avoid exposing sharp goods: Goods with sharp edges (such as metal pipes) should be wrapped in packaging materials to prevent scratching operators or damaging the ground.

environmental safety

Fire and explosion prevention: When used in flammable and explosive places (such as chemical warehouses), explosion-proof hydraulic forklifts should be selected and sparks (such as metal collisions) should be avoided.

Moisture and rust prevention: After use in damp or corrosive environments, it is necessary to clean the forklift in a timely manner and apply rust proof oil to extend its service life.

3、 Environmental adaptability

temperature range

Low temperature environment: When used in cold storage (temperature below -18 ℃), low-temperature resistant hydraulic oil and seals should be selected to prevent the hydraulic system from freezing or leaking.

High temperature environment: Avoid prolonged storage in direct sunlight or high temperature areas to prevent hydraulic oil oxidation and deterioration or tire aging.

space constraints

Narrow channel operation: Due to its small size, manual hydraulic forklifts are suitable for operating in channels with shelf spacing less than 2 meters. However, the width of the channel needs to be measured in advance to ensure that the forklift can pass smoothly.

Door frame and threshold: Before handling, it is necessary to confirm the height of the door frame and the width of the threshold to avoid the forks or goods getting stuck.

Ground conditions

Flat ground: Hydraulic forklifts have high requirements for ground flatness, and uneven ground may cause fork shaking or abnormal hydraulic system pressure.

Anti slip flooring: When used on wet and slippery surfaces (such as newly cleaned warehouses), it is necessary to reduce speed and increase friction (such as laying anti slip pads).

4、 Maintenance and upkeep

routine inspection

Hydraulic system: Check the hydraulic oil level and quality. If the oil is cloudy or reduced, it should be replaced or replenished in a timely manner.

Forks and wheels: Check whether the forks are deformed or cracked, whether the wheels are worn or stuck, and ensure the stability of handling.

Handle and Chain: Check if the handle is flexible, if the chain is loose or broken, to prevent operational failure.

regular maintenance

Lubrication and maintenance: Apply lubricating oil to moving parts (such as axles and chains) every 3 months to reduce wear and noise.

Hydraulic oil replacement: Replace the hydraulic oil every year and clean the hydraulic oil tank to prevent impurities from blocking the system.

Tire replacement: According to the frequency of use, replace the tire every 2-3 years to ensure grip and load-bearing capacity.

Fault handling

Hydraulic leakage: If hydraulic oil leakage is found, it is necessary to immediately stop using and inspect the seals to prevent oil contamination of goods or the ground.

Forks cannot be lifted or lowered: Check if the hydraulic pump is stuck or if the chain is broken. Do not forcefully operate to prevent more serious damage.

Wheel stuck: Clean the foreign objects (such as thread ends and debris) in the wheel and check if the bearings are damaged.
