What should be paid attention to when using manual forklifts for oxen

When using a manual forklift (where "oxen" may be a misuse, the following are the precautions for manual forklift operation), comprehensive control should be carried out from four aspects: preparation before operation, standardized operation process, maintenance after operation, and strengthened safety awareness to ensure safe and efficient operation. The following are specific precautions:

1、 Preparation before operation

Comprehensive inspection of equipment

Structural integrity: Check for cracks, deformations, or looseness in components such as forks, chains, and wheels to ensure there is no risk of breakage.

Hydraulic system: Confirm that the hydraulic oil level is sufficient and there is no leakage; Operate the joystick to test whether the fork lifts smoothly without any jamming or abnormal noise.

Braking performance: Test the sensitivity of the braking device to ensure timely braking during transportation.

Environmental Assessment and Planning

Ground conditions: Ensure that the ground along the transportation path is flat, solid, and free of potholes, oil stains, or obstacles; When working on slopes, it is necessary to evaluate whether the slope is within the allowable range of the equipment.

Space layout: Measure channel width, door frame height, and turning radius to ensure smooth passage of manual forklifts (including goods); Plan the shortest transportation route and reduce the number of turns.

Lighting and ventilation: When working in dim or enclosed environments, sufficient lighting equipment should be provided and good ventilation should be ensured.

Goods evaluation and fixation

Weight matching: Confirm that the weight of the goods does not exceed the rated load of the manual forklift (usually 1-5 tons), as overloading can cause equipment damage or tipping over.

Size adaptation: Check if the fork length is sufficient to cover the cargo pallet and avoid overloading of goods; Irregular goods need to be secured with straps or support frames.

Stability assessment: Evaluate the center of gravity position of the goods to ensure that they will not tip over due to shaking during transportation; Liquid or fragile goods require measures to prevent leakage and damage.

2、 Operation process specification

Standardized operating procedures

Lifting goods: Insert the fork completely under the pallet, slowly press the handle to lift the fork evenly until the goods are about 10-15 centimeters off the ground; Avoid sudden acceleration or excessive lifting.

Moving goods: Keep moving at a constant speed, not exceeding walking speed; Reduce speed in advance when turning to avoid sharp turns or pulling cargo sideways.

Landing cargo: After pushing the manual forklift to the designated position, slowly release the handle to smoothly lower the forklift until the cargo is completely in contact with the ground; Free fall is prohibited.

Safety protection measures

Personal protection: Operators are required to wear safety helmets, non slip shoes, and gloves, and long hair should be tied up; Do not wear loose clothing or accessories to prevent getting caught up in the equipment.

Environmental monitoring: constantly observe the dynamics of surrounding personnel, vehicles, and obstacles, and maintain a safe distance; Set up warning signs or assign dedicated personnel to command in the cross operation area.

Emergency response: In case of cargo dumping, equipment failure or emergency situation, immediately stop operation and press the emergency brake button; Evacuate personnel according to the plan and report for handling.

Special scenario response

Narrow space: When working between shelves or narrow passages, a dedicated person needs to direct and guide to avoid collisions; Use a wide-angle lens or camera to assist observation when necessary.

Slope operation: When going uphill, the goods are in front and the operators are behind; When going downhill, do the opposite and maintain low-speed driving; Do not turn or park on slopes.

High/low temperature environment: When working at extreme temperatures, it is necessary to check whether the viscosity of the hydraulic oil meets the requirements to prevent equipment performance degradation.

3、 Post operation maintenance

Equipment cleaning and repositioning

Cleaning and maintenance: Use a dry cloth to wipe off oil and dust on the surface of the equipment, and avoid using corrosive cleaning agents; Clean the forks, chains, and other components to prevent impurities from getting stuck.

Return to storage: Push the manual forklift to the designated storage area, lower the fork to the lowest position, and lock the handle; Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or rain.

Regular inspection and maintenance

Daily inspection: Check the hydraulic oil level, chain tightness, and wheel wear after each use, and record any abnormal phenomena.

Regular maintenance: Replace hydraulic oil, lubricating chains, and bearings according to the manufacturer's recommended cycle; Check if there are cracks in the weld seam and repair them in a timely manner.

Professional maintenance: In case of serious problems such as hydraulic system leakage or fork deformation, it is necessary to contact professional maintenance personnel for handling. Disassembly by oneself is prohibited.

4、 Strengthening safety awareness

Training and Assessment

Operation training: New employees need to receive manual forklift operation training, including equipment structure, operation procedures, safety regulations, etc., and can only operate independently after passing the assessment.

Retraining update: Regularly organize retraining to update safety knowledge and operational skills; Timely conduct specialized training for new equipment or processes.

Implementation of safety regulations

Prohibited behaviors: Clearly prohibit dangerous behaviors such as overloading, speeding, drunk operation, and manned operation, and establish a punishment mechanism for violations.

Safety signs: Post safety warning signs on equipment, such as rated load, operating steps, emergency braking position, etc; Set up safety warning lines or signs in the work area.

Emergency plan drill

Plan development: Develop emergency plans for situations such as cargo dumping, equipment malfunctions, fires, etc., and clarify the disposal process and responsible persons.

Regular drills: Organize an emergency drill once a quarter to improve employees' emergency response capabilities and collaboration levels.
