The working principle of the European steel wire rope electric hoist is to achieve precise lifting, lowering, and horizontal transportation of heavy objects through a mechanical transmission system driven by an electric motor. Its core mechanism can be divided into three modules: power transmission, suspension and transportation, and safety control, as follows:

1、 Power transmission: converting electrical energy into mechanical energy

Electric motor starting

The electric motor of the electric hoist serves as the power source, converting electrical energy into rotating mechanical energy. Electric motors are usually equipped with built-in braking systems to ensure that they can immediately stop running in the event of a power outage, preventing heavy objects from falling.

Reducer and gear set

The electric motor reduces its speed and increases its torque through a reducer, such as a worm gear or bevel gear reducer. The output shaft of the reducer is connected to the gear set, further transmitting power to the drum.

Drum rotation

The gear set drives the drum (cylindrical component wrapped around steel wire rope) to rotate. The surface of the drum is designed with spiral grooves to ensure even winding of the steel wire rope and avoid tangling or overlapping.

2、 Suspension and Transportation: Mechanical Applications of Steel Wire Rope

Load bearing and transmission of steel wire rope

Structure: The steel wire rope is made by winding multiple strands of steel wire, with the core at the center and steel wire strands on the outer layer. This structure gives it high strength, flexibility, and wear resistance, allowing it to withstand heavy loads and not easily break.

Function: One end of the steel wire rope is fixed to the drum, and the other end is connected to the hook. When the drum rotates, the steel wire rope is wrapped or released to achieve the lifting or lowering of heavy objects.

Pulley system and mechanical advantages

Implementation of horizontal transportation

Electric hoists can be installed on equipment such as single beam cranes, double beam cranes, or cantilever cranes, achieving precise positioning of heavy objects in three-dimensional space through the movement of large vehicles (walking mechanisms) and small vehicles (running mechanisms).

The traveling mechanism of large vehicles is usually driven by dual motors, combined with variable frequency speed regulation technology, to achieve a continuously variable speed of 0-30m/min; The car is driven by an electric motor to move its wheels on the track.

3、 Security Control: Multiple Protection Mechanisms

The built-in load sensor monitors the load weight in real time. When the load exceeds 95% of the rated value, the system automatically limits the action to prevent equipment damage or accidents.

Upward limit device: installed below the drum, when the heavy object is lifted to the maximum height, the limit switch is triggered, cutting off the power supply and preventing the steel wire rope from over winding.

Lowering limiter: Similar to the principle, it prevents equipment damage caused by continuing to descend after a heavy object touches the ground.

Emergency stop function

The operation panel is equipped with an emergency stop button, which can instantly cut off the power in dangerous situations, stop all actions, and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

buffer device

Some high-end models are equipped with buffer columns and hydraulic systems. When the steel wire rope breaks or the equipment overturns, the buffer device reduces the impact force by compressing the liquid or spring, thereby reducing the severity of the accident.
