While hydraulic forklifts improve operational efficiency, their safety issues cannot be ignored. The following are the main safety issues and corresponding solutions for hydraulic forklifts:

1、 Security issues

Collision hazard: Forklifts may collide with other objects or personnel during operation, which may result in serious personal injury and property damage.

Overturning danger: Forklifts with unstable center of gravity or heavy loads, especially when turning or going uphill, are prone to overturning accidents.

Squeezing and shearing hazards: Goods may slip or tip over during transportation, causing squeezing or shearing injuries to surrounding personnel.

Hazards of working at heights: Improper operation or equipment failure when using forklifts for working at heights may result in goods or personnel falling from heights.

Electric shock hazard: If the forklift is equipped with batteries or other electrical equipment, and these devices malfunction or are damaged, it may cause an electric shock hazard.

Improper operation danger: Insufficient skill level or lack of concentration of operators may lead to improper forklift operation and cause accidents.

Equipment malfunction hazard: After long-term use, forklifts may experience hydraulic system leaks, pipeline ruptures, and other malfunctions, leading to serious consequences such as forklift loss of control or fire.

2、 Solution

Strengthen safety training:

All employees using hydraulic forklifts must receive safety training, familiarize themselves with safety operating procedures and forklift safety knowledge.

The training content includes the basic structure, working principle, safety operation points, emergency response measures, etc. of forklifts.

Only those who pass the training can operate on duty. Those who fail the training need to receive retraining until they pass.

Regular safety inspections:

Before use, check the appearance of the forklift for any damage or deformation.

Check if the hydraulic system is functioning properly and if the hydraulic oil is sufficient and clean.

Check whether the wheels, axles, bearings and other components are intact and whether they rotate flexibly.

Check whether the fork is intact, whether there is any deformation or crack, and whether the fork lifts and lowers smoothly.

Check if the braking system is reliable and if the brakes are sensitive and effective.

Check whether the safety warning signs and safety protection devices are complete and intact.

Standardized operating procedures:

Overloading is strictly prohibited to ensure that the goods are within the carrying range of the forklift.

When handling goods, ensure that they are placed steadily to prevent them from tipping or slipping.

During the driving process, pay attention to controlling the speed and maintaining a safe distance from surrounding people and objects.

It is strictly prohibited to carry out loading and unloading operations without the forklift coming to a complete stop.

When turning or going downhill, slow down to prevent the forklift from overturning.

When using a forklift for high-altitude operations, ensure that the work platform is stable and reliable, and take measures to prevent falls.

Do not stand or carry people on forklifts to avoid falling accidents.

It is prohibited to dismantle or repair forklifts without authorization. Maintenance and upkeep should be carried out by professional personnel.

Equipped with safety devices:

According to the requirements of the "Safety Technical Regulations for Special Motor Vehicles in the Field (Factory)", forklifts should be equipped with driver permission collectors, driver sitting (standing) posture perception systems, etc.

In order to standardize driver operations, forklifts should be equipped with overspeed alarm/speed limit devices, seat belt alarms, and DMS driver behavior monitoring systems to identify driver fatigue driving, smoking, making phone calls, and other illegal work behaviors.

In order to prevent potential collisions between people, vehicles, and objects, forklifts should be equipped with safety auxiliary devices such as blind spot collision prevention systems and clearance lights.

Establish an emergency plan:

Develop a special emergency plan, clarify the reporting process, evacuation route, initial disposal methods (such as using oil absorbing cotton and sand to block and prevent spread), and fire extinguishing plan (equipped with applicable fire extinguishers) for hydraulic system leaks/pipe bursts.

Equip emergency supplies and provide sufficient oil absorbing cotton/felt, oil absorbing particles, leak proof trays, warning signs, and personal protective equipment (oil resistant gloves, goggles) near forklift parking areas and maintenance points.

Clearly define the disposal of leaked materials and sign contracts with qualified hazardous waste treatment companies to ensure the safe collection and disposal of leaked oil in accordance with environmental regulations.

Strengthen maintenance and upkeep:

Strict daily inspections, establishment of hydraulic system inspection checklist, pre shift inspections by operators, and regular in-depth inspections by maintenance personnel.

Mandatory regular maintenance, replace hydraulic oil and filter element according to manual requirements; Regularly inspect and tighten key joints; Timely replace aging and worn pipelines and seals.

When using qualified components and replacing hydraulic pipes and seals, original parts or high specification substitutes that meet the pressure rating and material requirements must be used.
