Three situations where hydraulic forklifts are prone to damage

During the operation of hydraulic forklifts, improper use or insufficient maintenance can easily lead to damage in the following three typical situations, affecting equipment lifespan and operational safety:

1. Long term overloading or illegal operations

Reason for damage:

Overloading operation: The rated load of hydraulic forklifts is the design limit. Long term overloading can cause a sudden increase in hydraulic system pressure, accelerate the wear of components such as oil pumps, hydraulic cylinders, and oil pipes, and even cause oil pipe bursts or seal damage.

Sudden loading/unloading: Rapid lifting or lowering of heavy objects can generate impact loads, which may exceed the system's bearing range, leading to hydraulic component fracture or structural deformation.

Lifting in tilted state: Lifting the cargo when the fork is tilted will change the load center, increase the risk of rollover, and cause additional stress on the hydraulic cylinder and steering system.

Typical manifestations:

Abnormal increase in hydraulic oil temperature (exceeding 80 ℃).

Hydraulic cylinder action is stuck, leaking oil or unable to maintain load.

Oil leakage or rupture at the oil pipe joint.

Preventive measures:

Strictly adhere to the rated load and prohibit overloading operations.

Smooth operation of lifting and tilting movements, avoiding sudden acceleration or braking.

Ensure that the forks are completely level before lifting the goods.

2. Hydraulic oil contamination or improper maintenance

Reason for damage:

Oil contamination: Impurities such as water, metal particles, and dust mixed in hydraulic oil can wear down hydraulic pumps, valves, and seals, leading to a decrease in system efficiency or component jamming.

Excessive oil temperature: Long term high temperature operation will accelerate oil oxidation, reduce lubrication performance, and cause aging and hardening of seals, leading to leakage.

Maintenance deficiency: Failure to regularly replace hydraulic oil, filter elements, or clean radiators can lead to the accumulation of impurities and poor heat dissipation, further exacerbating system damage.

Typical manifestations:

The hydraulic system operates slowly, produces increased noise, or experiences vibration.

The oil turns black, emulsified, or has a pungent odor.

There are signs of oil leakage or seepage on the surface of hydraulic components.

Preventive measures:

Regularly check the quality of hydraulic oil and replace the oil and filter element according to the instructions.

Keep the fuel tank sealed to prevent moisture and impurities from entering.

Regularly clean the hydraulic oil radiator to ensure heat dissipation efficiency.

Use specialized filtering equipment to refuel and prevent impurities from entering.

3. Poor environment or lack of protection

Reason for damage:

Corrosive environment: Working in chemical, humid, or salt spray environments can cause metal parts to rust and corrode, leading to a decrease in structural strength such as hydraulic cylinders and oil pipes.

High temperature environment: Working at high temperatures for a long time can accelerate oil oxidation and seal aging, while also reducing the efficiency of hydraulic systems.

Physical impact: Forklifts may damage hydraulic cylinders, oil pipes, or control valves when driving on bumpy roads or colliding with obstacles.

Lack of protection: Failure to install protective devices (such as oil pipe sleeves, dust covers) can expose hydraulic components to risks and increase the probability of damage.

Typical manifestations:

Corrosion or coating peeling on the surface of hydraulic components.

The oil pipe ruptures due to wear or collision.

The hydraulic system frequently experiences leaks or malfunctions.

Preventive measures:

Use corrosion-resistant materials or coatings to protect hydraulic components in corrosive environments.

Avoid forklifts operating in high-temperature environments for extended periods of time and install cooling devices if necessary.

Install oil pipe sleeves and dust covers to reduce the risk of physical damage.

Regularly check the fixing condition of hydraulic components to prevent damage caused by looseness or vibration.
